About the Author

Following a career that led her from managing colleges to Fortune-500 companies to major international law firms, Maureen Reid began writing the kind of novels she loves to read. Blending fiction with historical facts, Maureen is inspired to write about strong women who by sheer will and spirit become the best that they can be. A story-teller, Maureen’s characters have been described as flawed but determined as they try to make a difference in their lives and in the lives of others. The issues they confront are as current as today’s headlines.

Maureen’s first novel, Becoming Herself was inspired by her Irish immigrant grandmother who lived during the time when women gave up the corset and found their voice. Choosing Herself continues the tale of women who strove to make a difference in their world.

When she is not somewhere else, Maureen lives in the metropolitan New York area surrounded by family and friends. She is blessed that four of the world’s most beautiful, smartest and kindest girls call her “Grandma.”
